The City Council is the governing body of the City. The five Council members are elected at large by the voters of Gridley for four-year terms. The Mayor is elected by a majority vote of the City Council. The Council sets the policy for the City and adopts an annual budget. The Council appoints the City Administrator, Police Chief, and City Attorney.  Gridley residents are encouraged to attend City Council meetings. Residents who wish to address the Council may do so according to guidelines noted on the front cover of the City Council agenda. The agenda is available outside the Council Chambers, at the City Administration Department, and the "Meeting Agendas" link below.  The City Council meets the first and third Mondays of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 685 Kentucky St. Meeting agendas are posted here the Friday prior to each meeting.

In November 2012, the City Council adopted protocols that set higher conduct standards for Councilmembers. These protocols establish rules for fair, open and ethical government that exceed standards required by State law.  Each Councilmember is responsible for observing and enforcing the protocols. These standards serve to preserve the integrity and public image of Gridley City government. For more information please call the City Clerk's Office at (530) 846-3631.
