In 2003, OneWorld Sustainable developed a solar schools pilot project designed to help encourage the teaching of renewable energy in schools throughout Georgia.  The project was developed in response to a high school student's desire to see solar PV used at her school as a renewable energy resource. Since the cost of solar prohibited the school from using it effectively as an alternative to cheap grid electricity,

OneWorld Sustainable's international outreach activites were initiated following a visit to Kenya in 2004.  While there, we witnessed hardship and suffering incomparable to anything we'd ever experienced before.  In addition to many areas being overrun by poverty, hunger, and desease, the vast majority of East Africa's rural population relies on kerosene, candles, charcoal, or wood to provide the energy they need.  When we returned to the states, we began developing small PV systems that could be installed throughout Kenya in a variety of settings.  Our small PV systems now provide safe, clean, and renewable solar electricty to clinics for vaccine refrigeration and equipment operation, to schools and NGO's for lighting and cell phone charging, to families for lighting and connectivity needs, and to other groups of people who's lives and efforts would otherwise be compromised without access to electricity.
