New Jersey Ranks Second for Solar Power Installations

New Jersey’s solar electric installations grew by 153% in 2009, according to a study by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA).  California remains number one in solar installations.  The U.S. ranked forth in the world after Germany, Italy and Japan according to the SEIA report.  Germany has less sun potential than the U.S.; however Germany has had a strong government financial incentive program for several years.

New Jersey’s solar power incentive programs have encouraged home owners to convert to clean energy alternatives to reduce their electric bills.  It is predicted that New Jersey’s solar industry will be hurt in 2010 by significant cuts to the Clean Energy Fund.
