JinkoSolar announces 1.3 MW solar module supply agreement with Premier Power

2011 is looking to be a promising year for the solar industry, and with the expected boom in demand for solar solutions JinkoSolar plans to deliver.

JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. (NYSE: JKS), a fast-growing vertically integrated solar product manufacturer based in China, announced Jan. 7 that it has entered into a module supply agreement with Premier Power Renewable Energy, Inc. (NYSE:PPRW). Under the agreement, JinkoSolar will supply 1.3 MW of multi-crystalline solar modules to California’s Premier Power.

Although JinkoSolar is based out of China, the company hopes to utilize this agreement, alongside their new San Francisco office, to strengthen support for solar in the U.S. and generate revenue for a struggling American economy,

“In combination with Premier Power’s strong system integration service, this project will help to contribute to the growth of the U.S. solar markets in 2011,” said Yvonne Young, head of investor relations for JinkoSolar. “This is both the first contract JinkoSolar has signed since the company established its U.S. office in San Francisco in October 2010 and JinkoSolar’s first commercial project in North America.”

Having already staked its claim as a provider of cost-competitive solar modules in Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany and Italy, JinkoSolar plans to use this agreement to solidify their position in the North American solar market.

“The U.S. could potentially be a significant market for JinkoSolar and is a strategic focus for 2011. The San Francisco office was set up to better capture solar opportunities in the U.S.,” said Young.

Dean Marks, chairman and CEO of Premier Power hints that this is only the beginning for Premier Power in 2011.

“Premier Power has always sought to be an innovative leader in solar energy integration systems,” Marks said in a press release. “We welcome JinkoSolar to our group of strategic suppliers, with whom we work closely on a continual basis to maximize performance and drive down costs.”

The first shipment of modules is expected to arrive on Premier Power’s doorstep in April, and all 1.3 MW will be shipped in that month. JinkoSolar’s modules will be used by Premier Power for a large-scale 1.3 MW commercial rooftop project in Southern California.
