Under The Sun provides renewable energy choices for solar electric, solar pool heaters, and solar thermal water heating.Ebnergy efficiency Audits and weatheriaztion. NABCEP Certified and BPI Certified Energy Auditor. In 2009, our sister organization, Living Waters for the World, worked with the leadership of the Synod of the Sun, a regional governing body in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) They thought a new ministry of solar power systems to pair with water treatment systems would be a natural fit for our Synod, which includes all the PC(USA) congregations in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma. The Synod leadership jumped at the chance, and quickly found Presbyterians and other Christians to come together to start Solar Under the Sun.

Through 2012, Solar Under The Sun has held seven Solar Schools, graduated 163, placed more than 50% of the trained volunteers in the field, and by mid-June 2013, 44 solar powered systems will be in operation. Of the total number of systems, 43 are in Haiti and 1 is located in Kenya, and 5 systems are solar stand-alone systems while 39 operate Living Waters For the World clean water systems. In the next year, teams have plans to take SUTS systems even further in the world by traveling to Ukraine, Honduras, Uganda, and more. The picture you see on the right is our first Solar under the Sun install at Arcahaie, Haiti in July of 2009.Believing that Jesus Christ is the Light of the world, the vision of the Solar Under the Sun (SUTS)– a ministry of the Synod of the Sun, a governing body of the Presbyterian Church (USA) – is to illumine our fellow human beings with hope and life through solar energy. To do this, SUTS trains volunteers to design and install solar power systems with communities that lack reliable electrical power.SUTS: Trains, through Solar School courses, the mission team leaders needed to help (Initiating Partner) become effective solar energy providers. These courses include: Solar 1 – fundamentals of team leadership, partnership development and relationships, site review process, solar energy development, and Solar 2 – field testing, assembly of fully functional solar panel units, culminating in the production of solar power, and preparation of Initiating Partners to train Operating Partners to install, operate and maintain their solar energy system.
